Hi, I am 27 and live in London. I am going to be going away late July, after my sister gets married in Spain. I have a bit of an obsession for ex-soviet communist countries, so want to spend the majority of my time travelling in and around the Stans & Russia. I want to travel overland as much as possible and plan to start in, but move quickly through Europe. My rough plan is to go through The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Kaliningrad (a Russian satellite state), Lithuania, Belarus and the Ukraine inc the Crimea before heading to Georgia and Azerbaijan. I am really hoping to spend a bit of time in Iran, if it hasn’t been invaded by then, before going to Turkmenistan. From there I intend to go to Uzbekistan, and potentially to Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, before heading north to Uzbekistan and eventually Eastern Russia where I want to travel to Vladivostok, pretty much just for the sake of it Trans Siberian styles. After that I will start to look for work in either Asia or Australia.
I love travelling and have travelled alone on many occasions, and generally prefer it. However, I wouldn’t mind meeting some friends along the way on this trip, as some of the places I am going could be quite remote (read lonely) and think I would have a better time with others. I am quite energetic and want to see as much as possible, day and night. Would be keen to meet people with the same mind set, who don’t necessarily mind trekking half way across a city at 2am, to find a dodgy nightclub filled with local mafia. Also anyone outgoing, as being a city dweller, probably wouldn’t naturally take advantage of some of the opportunities thrown at me (like mountains) but would be keen to get involved, I am pretty much down with anything and an fairly flexible with the itinerary. So if anyone heading to any of these places or keen to join me along the way, give me a shout. Also if anyone has any information on these, especially the Stans, inc Visas and best times to visit in terms of weather etc, then I would also like to hear from you, as I have a lot to organise.
