Amazonas Explored - Group Travel

I will be heading into the Amazon region of Ecuador to undertake volunteer work.
I am a university student, and want to work with communities in developing countries over my summer break.
The program consists of one week of volunteering followed by one week of activities with other volunteers. Then I am hoping to travel through America, but I am still considering this.
After landing in Quito I will be catching a bus to Puerto Misahualli where I will be staying for most my time in the Amazon.
Each morning, I will canoe to one of the local villages in which we will be providing water and septic tank infrastructure. We will also be refurbishing the village school or teaching the children English and basic hygiene.
After volunteering for the day, there will be loads of different activities, such as visiting a secluded waterfall, trivia nights or going to a butterfly farm. I will also be given the chance to hold an Anaconda or Tarantula... but I think I might give that a pass...!!
After completion of the volunteer week I will get to experience what the Amazon truly has to offer.
We will be heading on a trek deep into the jungle with a private guide that has lived in the Amazon for over 25 years. I expect to learn alot about the amazing animals, beautiful birds and plants along the way.
We will also be going white water rafting, visiting an indigenous tribe and their village shaman and going on dusk navigational hikes!
All this in just under one week before In head back to LA where I am contemplating traveling across the US.
