Hi there! Currently living Birsbane Australia - I am planning a trip starting in London......heading to France, Ireland, Sweden etc etc....but, major budget so would like to hop countries while working there too - anything from bar work, cleaning, waiter, front desk, teaching english etc...just odd jobs to get by - but will have some back up money just incase it isn't that easy to find work...

So it wont be a luxuary trip - not for me anyway, more like hostels and 2 minute noodels. I like the cheap thrills in life...

Heres a few ideas:

- Bike ride around Holland
- Work in a bakery in France (yum)
- go to 'cafes' in Amsterdam
- Hike the Alps
- Head to the countryside in Sweden, Norway, etc
- Drink beer in Germany
- Drink Whisky in Ireland
- Learn French

And alot more!

Would really like to have a trusty travel friend with me to do this and someone who is willing to work to earn money in order to hop to the next country. I'm very flexible with what countries to visit aswell. I'm a very laid back person just desperate to get out of this rat race and do something different with my life. I love trekking/hiking so would like to take time to explore the wilderness areas of these countries aswell when possible. I plan to go for a few months - no time limit, I would prefer to go in Spring but am flexable!

Can also take a weekend off and head to Amsterdam for a few coffees - ahem, puffs, ahem - on a weekend or something. Though I won't be able to take lots of time off since I'm at university at the mo - but I don't mind accompanying you on parts of your epic trip :)

Aaron&Megan I'd be very intrested in something like this. I'd be coming form the United States. I live in Kansas City. I'm in a similar situation financially and I'd like to take backpack and work so I could travel as long as possible. Have you looked into finding jobs at all? Can you work legally in many of these countries? I'm sure it would be different for me than you since we're from diffrent countries. If you can't work leagally how easy is it to find under the table jobs? I'm also currently considering backpacking/working Australia and New Zealand (they have working holiday visa for Americans).

Jessica_Alice Hi there! I have a European passport, so it should be okay I'm guessing, although it's something to look into definately! France, Spain etc could be tricky for people without the Euro passport..
