The best way to explore the picturesque vineyards of California's North Coast is by bike. Explore the Napa Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley, all on two wheels.
The North Coast is by far the most popular wine region, and for good reason. But this popularity also means crowded tasting rooms, congested traffic, and high tasting fees. So for the most rewarding experience, it's best to explore the lesser known regions.

The Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz regions are stunning, but the mountain roads are tough and a little unsafe for riders. However, Mendocino and Sonoma Valley are easier on riders and they're a lot less crowded than Napa Valley on weekends.
A typical cyclist itinerary starts in the spa town of Calistoga and heads out of the Napa Valley and over the Mayacamas Mountains. Enjoy a picnic at Alexander Valley, which bears an uncanny resemblance to France's Bordeaux region, and then continue riding to the town of Healdsburg to stay the night.

Take it slow in the morning, then bike through the Russian River Valley to Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve. Enjoy the hillside vineyards, apple orchards and oak forests as you enter the Dry Creek Valley. A gentle climb takes you back to Alexander Valley, stopping at some of the many wineries that dot the countryside back to Napa.
This is just an idea for a Trip that you can either Create with your own specific dates and requirements, or you can Find a Trip created by another traveller and join them on an adventure.
