Hi, I'm about to spend a month travelling in China and I'm a bit nervous about going it alone. I've travelled alone in India and the Philippines, but Lonely Planet tells it's best to tackle China with someone else. I'm flying to Hong Kong tomorrow (6th March), slowly making my way up to Beijing and flying to Japan on the 6th April. I've written a rough plan below. I'm pretty flexible on most things, but I do have a few must sees.

Guilin and Yangshou - must see
Liijang/Tiger leaping gorge
Chengdu
Leshan
Juizhaigou national park
Xian - must see
Pingyao
Beijing - must see

It would be great to hear from anyone who's in China now or going pretty soonish.

Damo Hey Becky, Fly into China on the 6th so will just miss you. I am sure you will be fine though, just book yourself into a hostel with lots of other travellers and I am sure you will make alot of friends. Hope you enjoy your trip.
