I'm trying to get a group together to climb Kilimanjaro. The bigger the group, the cheaper the trip. Of the guide groups I'm looking at, they're all certified and have a good track record. They also cover a night's stay in a hotel before and after the trip if necessary.
I want to summit on the full moon of Jan 19th if possible but as of yet, cannot find a group already going at that time. So I turn to you faithful travelers. Will you answer the call?

Zoracle Okay, all is booked, if anyone else would like to join, please let me know and I can add on. The climb begins on Jan 13th, summitting on the 20th during the full moon. I'm going along the Lemosho Trail with Zara Tours for about $1900. I think the price goes down if we add more people though, so let me know.

Todd Hi guys. We're getting more and more spam from tour operators on here, which in one respect can be helpful, but we're worried if we allow one tour operator, then it will open the flood gates. Anyway, if there are a couple/few of you interested to climb Kili this season, let me know and maybe we can work on getting you a Globetrooper discount. Maybe in return for a couple of guest blog posts afterwards on GT they'll give you a significant discount. Just a thought. So if anyone's interested, make it know so we can get rough numbers, then if you have any operators in mind, we can contact them on behalf of GT and offer them some exposure in exchange for a discount.

Zoracle Hey, Todd, this sounds great. I was thinking of going through Zara Tours or Team Kilimanjaro but was leaning towards Zara Tours just because they have some good package deals. Let me know what you can come up with. I plan to book this week. Thanks!

Msi Hi - I'm considering the trip as well, I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. Just have to see about shifting another trip. Have you decided on a guide group? And by when are you looking for confirmation?

Skylar Givens I'm considering climbing Kili if the timing works with my Aconcagua plans. I'm comfortable climbing without a guide and hiring local porters. Do you plan to hire a guide?

Todd I may be wrong, but from memory, you have to have an approved guide on Kili. Most of the guiding companies will do bare-bones trips with a single guide and very limited supplies. Try teamkilimanjaro.com if interested.

Zoracle yes, you definitely have to have a guide on Kili and I am planning on getting one, just figuring out what dates work best still

Jebbert what does this cost cover? Is it just a cost for food and what not when climbing?

Zoracle the cost covers everything for climbing Kili: guides, food, porters, camp gear. Only thing it doesn't cover is things like your own cold weather kit and what not.

Jebbert Well there is a few more trips I am considering around this time, but this would definitely be the most affordable for me right now. When do you need confirmation on whether I can do it?

Zoracle Todd, I was hoping to take the Lemosho or Machame trails. It seems they only have Rongai at that time. Lauren, I already read that blog post, it was uber useful! thanks!

Todd You could ask them to put up a trip for you in hope of attracting others. That's what we had to do because we were working jobs and had a tight schedule. You'll love it whatever you do. If you want to be really adventurous, you could camp in the crater.

Todd Hey Zoracle, I asked TK about full moon climbs in January (just out of curiosity) and they said it can get very busy on Machame at that time. They said Lemosho can also bottle neck at Barranco camp. They offer a varient of Lemosho that bypasses Barranco.
