A felucca is a traditional wooden sailboat that seats up to 10 people. They're still used up and down the Nile for everyday tasks, but increasingly they're chartered to support adventure.
The term "adventure" is used lightly because travel by felucca is a lesson in the art of relaxation. It involves an oversized mattress, a mast/sail, and a crew that takes care of anything that requires more than lifting a finger.
Spending a few days aboard a felucca takes you back to your roots. It gives you the chance to ignore the complexity of the 21st century and sit back in the open air. It's not quite as serious as spending weeks in a monastery, but it does let you take stock of life from a vantage point.

The trip can be a little jittery at first. Your mind will skip back and forth between your camera, the passing waters, the conversation, and the crew. But give it a few hours and in no time you'll adapt to a more forgiving pace.
As the Nile waters pass by, you'll get to know your fellow travellers and crew. You'll also stop from time to time to explore Egyptian relics and to meet the local Nubian people. At night, as activity slows, the crew will point the felucca ashore for a campfire, hot supper and friendly banter.
Sailing the Nile by felucca is a surefire way to get a local's-eye-view of life on the Nile. It isn't veiled in luxury or coated it convenience; it's travelling with locals and living with purpose.
This is just an idea for a Trip that you can either Create with your own specific dates and requirements, or you can Find a Trip created by another traveller and join them on an adventure.
