Euro InterRailing 2013
Hi, I'm 22, male and going on a big Eurotrip after finishing my degree in Australia. While I have a strong interest in culture and art, I'll still be selecting hostels which are conducive to evening pub crawls a couple of times a week. I've travelled in Europe before and studied in London for a year. Of my planned destinations, I've already been to Paris and Berlin for a few days each.
Very much in the development stage here but aiming to lock in some of the key dates like festival times, rail pass starts and finishes when I finalize plans over summer 2012.
Travel is based on the time frame set by InterRail passes and the leave date for an 8 day 'recovery' tour in Croatia from Dubrovnik to Split.
Provisional dates:
Leave Copenhagen on a 22 day (10 travel day) InterRail pass on 14 August (La Tomatina 28/8?). Arrive in Naples by 6 September. Leave Dubrovnik on boat tour on 7 September. Begin second 22 day rail pass on 16 September. Be in Munich for 2 days for the end of Oktoberfest which finishes on the 6th of October. Arrive in Copenhagen before 9 October.
Destinations [possible stops]:
InterRail: Copenhagen [via Hamburg], Amsterdam, [Bruges], Paris, Bordeaux, Bilbao, Madrid, [Valencia], Barcelona, [Nice via train or ferry to Livorno/Pisa (19h)], Florence, [Venice return], Rome, Naples/Pompei.
External to InterRail: Naples, Bari, Dubrovnic (via ferry), Split (via 7 islands on a cruise by Busabout).
InterRail: Split, [Zagreb], Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava, Prague, Munich, [somewhere in the alps and somewhere in Germany to cover 3 travel days], Copenhagen [via Hamburg].
While it's sort of out of the scope of this trip, I plan on taking 2 Contiki tours after interrailing:

ZacDiamond Hi Thomas. I'm Diamond, 19 years old from the UK. I'll be backpacking Europe on a budget between June and August too. And I'll be in Eastern Europe for the end of the trip. I have no solid plans as of yet and near complete flexibility- though Prague is on my to visit list. When my own travel plans are a bit more "developed" I'd be more than up for meeting up for a stretch along the way. Take care.
