Globetrooper Founders Road Trip - Canada & USA
The Aussie founders of Globetrooper, Todd & Lauren, are roadtripping across Canada and the United States.
In nothing but a hippy van, of course.
And we need YOU to tell us WHERE to go and WHO to meet up with.
Here's a starting list:
Montreal
Gatineau
Toronto
Madison
Calgary
Winnipeg
Vancouver
Seattle
Portland
San Fran
Los Angeles
Las Vegas
Tucson
Austin
Kentucky
New York
Boston
We also want to drive on Route 66, and go to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley, Yellowstone... and more. We love adventure, so anything out-of-the-ordinary or just a pure adrenaline rush, we'll be up for, but only if it's not too pricey.
We're hoping to meet as many people as we can who are interested in travel. Whether you're currently travelling, soon-to-be travelling, cubicle travelling, planning to travel or a travel blogger/writer, we want to MEET ALL OF YOU.
Do you think we should come to where you are? Tell us now. Do you want to meet up for a coffee or a beer? Can you show us around your town or just your kitchen? Can you offer us a comfy couch to crash on or just a quick shower? Can you help us to understand what a normal day for you is all about? Let us know by following the trip and commenting below.
**UPDATE As at Sept 2010**
Unfortunately we've had to postpone this trip, but it will still happen! Most likely in 2012 though. Some other opportunities have come up that seem more realistic for our *small* budget at the moment... as I hope most of you guys will understand just comes with the territory of travelling.
Keep all the ideas rolling in though, as we'll pick where we left off when we come back to North America!

Jebbert If you wanna see the Northern lights pretty much keep going North. Dawson City, Yukon is a good place to go. Very small like less then 1000 people but still a city.
Sunny covered some cool stops in Alberta. Didn't even know about the creationist museum and I have lived in Alberta all my life.
Checking out a Edmonton, Calgary hockey game would in my opinion be exciting. They are the only 2 teams in Alberta and get intense. The parties after the games are always fun no matter which team your rooting for.
Waterton national park in Alberta is very beautiful and doesn't have the crowds Banff national park has.
If you wanna see such things as the worlds biggest teepee, egg, dinosaur, beaver, golf tee, putter, dragonfly, and many others. Or the starship enterprise in Vulcan, Alberta.

SunnySideUp I recommend Big Valley Alberta's Creationist Science Museum. It's one of two in North America and a definate cultural experience....then head to the Tyrell museum in Drumheller. There is also the gopher hole museum in Torrington. Really you can't go 'wrong' stopping in the smaller town in Alberta. Each one is an 'experience' and gets better with the 'night life'. You will experience some true red neck culture here for sure. Also Saskatchewan... cultural experience... head to Prince Albert.

Peggy Another place to consider is Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. I just got back from a trip to KY and the tours of Mammoth Cave were spectacular!!!! You can even take a Wild Cave Tour where you do some actual spelunking! But really, all the tours offered are awesome.

Caroline M. I'm familiar with most of these cities as well as the roads between them -- I did a road trip from Calgary to Vancouver a few summers ago and there are some fantastic things to do along the way. Send me a message and I'm happy to give you some pointers.
One thing you should consider is the weather and how that will affect the order of the cities you visit. While L.A., Vegas, and Austin may still be lovely in late December, New York and Boston will almost certainly be miserable and cold by then.
Cities I would add: Chicago, New Orleans, D.C., Philadelphia, both Portlands (Oregon has the bigger and more famous one, but Maine is home to the lobster-soaked original). And when you come to New York, make sure you spend some time in Brooklyn in addition to Manhattan!

Keith I mentioned this to you on Twitter, but shoot up to Madison, WI and we should be able to get together!
