Name Hike, Kayak and Cruise the Antarctica Peninsula
This new expedition includes the best of the famous South Shetland Islands and the Antarctica Peninsula. Beginning and ending in Ushuaia, the provincial capital of Argentine Tierra del Fuego, this expedition takes us across the Drake Sea, from the fjords of Patagonia to the site of one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. From the comfort of ship, complete with great food and hotel service, we will explore the fjords, glaciers and remarkable wildlife for which the Forgotten Continent is so well known.
Once we arrive in Antarctica, we will leave behind the comfort of the boat to set up camp in one of the most beautiful and pristine places on earth. Together with a team of instructors, we will embark on an unsupported expedition. Over three days, weather permitting, we will climb one of the Antarctic Andes mountains and complete a glacier traverse. At the end of the third day, we will meet up with our ship again to continue exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, stopping off at some of the most breathtaking areas to explore the coast by kayak, before returning to Ushuaia.
Antarctica has long captivated the hearts and minds of the world's pioneers and explorers. The great expanse of the still largely virgin territory lives up to its reputation for the unknown, and is full of surprises for those that are lucky enough to explore it. From a rare siting of an orca whale to icebergs so beautiful they take your breath away, Antarctica will leave you with unforgettable memories.
This trip offers the best of both facets of Antarctica. From the warmth comfort of the Antarctic Dream, you have the opportunity to take in the sites of the peninsula and the tremendous might of the Drake Sea, while being taken care of by a great staff and then during the onland expedition, you can challenge yourself in the same conditions that famous explorers such as Scott and Shackleton faced over 100 years ago.
