Hiking the Appalachian Trail - Group Travel

I've always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail, and if I'm going through all the work it takes to get there and get ready to backpack, I figure I might as well go all the way. I've done hiking/backpacking/camping before, but nothing of this magnitude. It would be nice to find some folks who want to make this commitment with me (or just keep me company for a section), and it will get me more excited about the trip if I don't have the pressure of doing it alone.

I'm planning on doing the Appalachian Trail Institute's 5-day preparedness course in Sept. '12, if anyone's interested in joining me for that as well. It's $300, but well worth it to learn from someone who's hiked the whole trail 16 (!!!) times!

I don't have a start/end date set in stone, but weather pretty much dictates finishing by Oct., and it takes about six months to hike.
