Planning a road trip in India for a total of 40 days split into two legs of 6 days (north of Delhi) and 33 days (South of Delhi)

Night 1: Rest
Day 2: Explore Jaipur
Man sagar Lake, Jal mahal, Hawa Mahal, pink city
Evening 2: Jaipur-Pushkar (2 hours)
Night 2: Rest
Day 3: Explore Pushkar
Pushkar: An ancient hindu pilgrim town with many temples
Pushkar lake, Brahma temple, savitri temple, varah temple, other temples
Evening 3: Pushkar-Ajmer (30 mins)

Early Day 4: Explore Ajmer
Ajmer: popular muslim pilgrim city
Khawaja's Dargah, Anasagar Lake

India's fastest growing city and the 3rd fastest growing in the world: Not much to see except some new developments such as an underground art gallery, IIM Ahmedabad (the best business school in India)
Evening 8: Ahmedabad-Surat (5 hours)/Rest
Day 9: Explore Surat
Surat Fort, Sardar Patel Museum, Dutch garden and cemetery, Chintamani Jain temple
Evening 9: Surat-Daman (2 hours)/Rest
Day 10: Explore Daman: Portugese colony until 1987. Moti Daman fort, St. Jerome, Church of Bom Jesus and some beaches
Evening/Night 10: Daman-Ellora (6 hours)

Day 11: Visit Ellora Caves
Evening: 11 Ellora- Ajanta (2 hours)/Rest

day 12: Visit Ajanta Caves
Afternoon 12: Ajanta- Aurangabad (2 hours)
Evening 12: Explore Aurangabad. Bibi ka Maqbara, other historical monuments in Aurangabad,_Maharashtra
Night 12: Aurangabad-Mumbai (6 hours)/Rest
Day 13: Explore Mumbai: the financial capital of India

Afternoon/evening: explore Mysore (30 mins away)
Mysore Palace, Brindavan gardens, St.Philomena's church

Early Day 19: Mysore-Kozhikode (through Bandipur National Park) (4 hours)
Afternoon: Explore Kozhikode
Lots of temples and beaches. We could also try to visit a movie studio here
Night 19: Kozhikode-Kochi (Along the Coast) 4 hours/Rest

Late Start Day 20: Explore Kochi
Beaches, scenic beauty, city center
Night 20: Kochi-Trivandrum(Thiruvanathpuram) 3 hours

Day 21: Explore trivandrum
Kovalam Beach, temples
Evening 21: Trivandrum-Kanyakumari (1.5 hours) (southernmost point of mainland India) Visit the beach and view the Sunset
Night 21: Rest

Early day 22: Watch daybreak at the beach, Vattakottai fort, Temples, Mathur aqueduct (one of the highest and longest in Asia)
Evening 22: Kanyakumari-Madurai (4 hours)/Rest

Early Day 23: Explore Madurai
Temples, architecture, forts and museums
Evening 23: Madurai-Pondicherry (5 hours)/Rest

Early Day 24: Explore Pondicherry: A former french colony
Visit Beach, Aurobindo ashram, botanical gardens, other streets and town center for architecture
Night 24: Pondicherry-Madras(Chennai) 3 hours

Day 24: Explore chennai, historic buildings and shopping
Evening 24: Chennai-Tirupati (3 hours). Take token for visiting the shrine
Early Day 25: Darshan at the temple (you may have to shave your head here if you want to visit the shrine)
Late Day 25: Tirupati-Hyderabad 8 hours,_India
Night 25: Rest

Day 26: Explore hyderabad
Charminar, Birla Mandir, Hussain Sagar, Chowmahalla Palace, Golkonda fort
Night 26: Hyderabad-Rajahmundry (6 hours)/Rest

Day 27: Rajahmundry-Vishakapatnam (3 hours)
Visit Thotlakonda (buddhist site) and continue on to Puri
Vishakhapatnam-Puri (7 hours)
