I'm looking for a few people to join me on my year long trip around Latin America starting January 2012. I plan to start in El paso, Texas so that I can cross over the Mexican border and go from there. Hopefully the journey will be by motorbike but I haven't learnt to ride yet. The budget will be around £15 per day incuding food and accomodation. Various volunteer projects to attend will be organised before departure, but other than that it's freelance tourism probably staying in hostels or couchsurfing for the main part and visiting places of interest. My main aim is to get to know latin american culture and society (in both urban and rural areas).
I've managed to plan most of the route but nothing is set in stone and I'm open to ideas and alternatives.

Mr. Mr. If you are still thinking of doing this trip I can really tell you North Mexico now is really dangerous due to drug cartel wars all across the US-Mexico Border. I live down here if any one is interested in further comments please let me know. It can meake a difference!!
Good luck, I thinks it is a great trip plan.

Todd Hey glothy, love the trip. Especially love that it's by bike and you haven't learnt to ride yet. I went for my learner's license just before leaving Australia, which doesn't mean I know how to ride, but it was a good introduction. I'd love to do a bike trip too. Will certainly keep an eye on this and see how the rest of 2010 pans out. Have you watched Ewan McGregor's bike documentaries?
