Name London to Cape Town Overland
I am planning to drive from London to Cape Town in June 2010. If you fancy some adventure then read on!
I have a 300 series Landrover Defender called Himba which has been built from scratch to a decent expedition spec and am looking for 2-3 people to join me on this trip.
The trip should take around 5 to 6 months and take in: Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
I’m a 28 year old male from London who’s had enough of city life and wants to fulfil a life long ambition! I’ve been lucky to have travelled quite extensively through Europe, the US, Canada, Central America and Australasia. I also spent January 2009 in Africa on an overland trip (Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia) which has helped with planning this trip. I am a qualified first aider and have a fair amount of expedition experience, which will hopefully come in useful!
I’m looking for fun, well balanced individuals with a keen sense for adventure. Male or female, young or old makes no difference to me but previous travel experience would be very useful.
Every trip participant will be expected to contribute to the cost of the trip. I envisage this would be around £5,000 per person based on three coming, less if there are four of us for the 5-6 month trip. This will go purely towards the costs of the trip. I’d also like to involve a charity in some way – either through sponsorship or actual hands on work out in Africa.

Mike Hi All,
Thank you for your various posts. The latest update is:
I leave on the 3rd June and head to the Ardeche region of southern France for a charity fundraiser. I then head through the Alps, head through Italy and cross to Tunisia on the 17th June. I'm then aiming to be in Cairo for the 1st July before heading down to Sudan where i'll be carrying out a charity venture (i'm taking lots of schooling equipment in the Landrover that i'll deposit in various remote schools in Sudan).
I then head to Ethiopia for late July and then Kenya and the Masaii in August, just in time for migration. The rest is pretty open at this point but the original country itinerary still stands.
Keep me updated with all your plans and if we end up meeting en route great!
Will try and post a picture up of the Landrover too!
All the best,
Mike
