Cyprus is an island nation located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and is situated south of Turkey, west of Syria, and north of Egypt. Cyprus has a diverse geography with stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and rich farmland. The island is also home to a wide variety of cultures and traditions. Greek Cypriots make up the majority of the population and share a strong connection with mainland Greece. Turkish Cypriots make up the second largest group and have strong ties to Turkey. Cyprus has a long history of conflict andis currently divided into two main sections: the Greek Cypriot-controlled southern area and the Turkish Cypriot-controlled northern area.
