Saint Helena is an island located in the South Atlantic Ocean, approximately 1,200 miles west of Africa. The island is part of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, which also includes two other islands: Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha. Saint Helena has a population of just over 4,000 people and its capital is Jamestown. The island is volcanic in origin and is surrounded by a coral reef. Its climate is tropical, with average temperatures ranging from 68-86 degrees Fahrenheit. Saint Helena is best known as the place where Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled in 1815, and he lived on the island for six years until his death in 1821. Today, the island is a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming to see Napoleon’s final resting place as well as the other historical sites on the island. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking, diving, and exploring the natural beauty of Saint Helena.
