I am going to be trekking to Everest Base and Gokyo likely by myself but perhaps with a porter guide. I will then be climbing Mera Peak (6500m) with a guide and outfitter. I am looking for company on the EBC portion and also on the Mera peak portion, especially to share some cost and have some people to laugh with.

Salman Hi, I am looking to go to Meak Peak in 2011. But am having a hard trying to find a reliable operator and get a sense of technical difficulty. Any advice would be highly appreciated. I climbed Kilimanjaro in Spring, but I dont have any technical mountaineering skills. Are those necessary for Mera Peak. Thanks. And Safe Travels. Salman

Todd Hey Salman, have you thought of doing a Technical Mountaineering Course first? They usually combine instruction with climbing a peak or two. UYou can do these courses in most alpine areas such as NZ, France, Alaska, Patagonia, India, etc. I'm in a similar position to you: I've done Kili, but I realise it was a walk in the park compared to a real alpine peak. Salman Hi Todd, Thanks for the note. I thought about doing a course with Yamnuska (www.yamnuska.com) in the Columbia Ice Fields in the fall, but it did not work due to timing / schedule. I have been looking into Aconcagua as well, but I thought I would do Mera Peak next year and then Aconcagua the following. I'll check out the fieldtouring.com website. Salman

Chrislxl Hi there, I've just got back from the base camp. Planning to go back in May or Sep 2011 to climbing from ABC camp. I will go from Tibet side. If you go from Tibet and need information, I'm happy to help. Other wise good luck Christine

Lauren Hi Chris, are you planning to climb to Everest ABC next year? I'd love to push past Base Camp for that little bit extra, not sure about the holy summit yet :)

Lauren It would be great to get a bunch of people to do this together. Not sure about the timeframe yet, and haven't planned where we're going to be after the Gobi trip next year that ends in July... will let you know how plans evolve. When are you going to start booking etc?
