Name Mongol Rally 2012 - Southern Route
Team-mates needed for the Mighty Mongol Rally!
How would you like to spend 6 weeks in a tiny car travelling across the most challenging terrain imaginable and all for charity?
We are Team Yak Kerouac and we're looking for fellow drivers to embark on a real once in a life time trip.
Taking the southern route, via as many countries as pot-noodles will allow, maybe Iran/maybe not Iran (come on guys - peace and harmony), dipping into Iraq, through the STans and then up the roof of the world - the Pamir Highway - we want fellow travellers who will leap into the adventure and all it needs with what is now only 4 and a half months away. As this is a charity rally, you will need to actively help with fund-raising, helping find sponsors, answering the phone, and telling jokes. Jokes essential. But raising cash more so. If you want an adventure where you may break-down a lot (or cry), leave a message below with why you want to do the rally and we'll take it from there.
I would prefer you to be in the UK or Europe (to help source the vehicle) preferably over 30 as I am, but open to suggestions, and someone who won't eat oranges in the car. Languages and car mechanic skills aren't essential. Being a thoroughly nice person is. And those who can drive. I'm on a car mechanics course and learning russian. So far I can say goodbye and 'she cooks'
The total costs per person work out a around £2500 each, which includes all fees, flights, visas, and on road costs. We are looking to get our vehicle sponsored, which is then sold at the finishing line with all proceeds going directly to the Lotus Foundation in Mongolia. We are also supporting the Lymphoma Association as I lost my car-mad dad to the disease. Our total target for fundraising is £2500. (if we can add a zero at the end of that figure, then great!)
Also planning to carbon off-set and working with the Mongolian forestry to plant 250 trees once we get there. We'd like to leave a forest behind and not just a beaten up old car. Already some sponsors in place but looking to gain more..
We are all set and ready to go, and would need a decision made preeeetty soon so we can get planning as there is a lot of visas!
Waiting for you. :-)

Still looking for flights? You can have flight experts compete against one another to find you the absolute best and cheapest flights.
ADVRHINO Sounds perfect!!!! I think I meet all the criteria, I don't live in Europe (I'm in Australia) I am fanatical motorcyclist with plenty of long distance trips under my belt and drive like Ms Daisy
I speak 3 languages, each as useless as the other for this trip, but with your new skills we can at least say goodbye and "she cooks" to four different nationalities ... the possibilities are endless.
Happy to support your cause, and that of the kiddies (as a veteran child protection worker I think its a tops cause!)
I am sure I can fund raise the required seaclams for this noble enterprise. Like the carbon offset ... it will ease my motorcycling racing guilty conscience.
I am over 30, self sufficient, with ample recreation leave up my sleeve .....
Oh for Pete's sake pick me already and send me and email so we can skype etc and get this 4 wheeled Mary Celeste venture on the road ...
Yours in U turns, flat tyres and exploding dashboard oranges.
