I am looking for a committed, easygoing motorcyclist (25-40yrs male or female) inspired by the likes of Ted Simon and Lois Pryce who is up for an adventure. Mechanical know-how is a massive bonus!(I ride an old Honda CB550 four K) The itinerary is flexible and subject to change....if someone shows great interest in the trip I am happy to plan the itinerary alongside them. I plan to wildcamp and couchsurf to keep the costs of the trip down, and possibly do some wwoofing (volunteering on organic farms in exchange for meals and board). The aim is to make it to the North of Portugal for the mid-end of August for a week-long music and sustainability festival 'Boom', at which I will work. Then when that's over we wend our way home. I am happy for someone to join me for the whole trip - if we get along - or just a few days here or there, or anything in-between. I am a confident rider and have already completed foreign motorcycle trips alone, I just think this time it may be nice to have a fellow comrade! If this sounds like your cup of tea get in touch ;o)

BucketSearch Interesting! Can you give me an idea of the areas you’d like to visit? I’m looking for something.. Perhaps a trip like this. I am an old (55) very healthy well-traveled, calm, resourceful, for lack of better terms, well-aged “hippie”. Credits, Lifelong motorcyclist now with KLR650, a lifetime mechanic. Solo M/C trip on the Labrador loop, 1-month wilderness camping in the Rockies, and many backpack trips through Europe and so on.. “I like to save so I can savor” in my traveling motto.

claire Great stuff...not so sure yet where I'd like to vist...gonna fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants somewhat on this one...busy studying and working until June...will take off shortly afterwards...as you can see I've amended trip somewhat...where are you based?

Dave 1965 Ducati 250 with a top speed of about 90 but I'm usually doing 60 or so. I've been looking into bike shipping lately. There's a RoRo service that goes from US to the UK that sounds good.

avi The finest tours are individual. One goes where one wants, isn't hung up by someone else's problems and break-downs - and flexibility can become as much a problem as a freedom. I think more research is necessary prior to undertaking such a journey. I speak from experience.

claire yes you're probably right (although I managed a month in france alone on the road on my 125cc honda two and a half years ago with very little research...) as you can see the trip is somewhat amended now...i do agree that the finest tours are indeed individual...

Minx Poya and I now agreed to do the same - he will ship his bike to Liverpool so we go go explore Scotland, Wales and Cornwall before moving to the continent.
