New Year in Canada ( Toronto) - Group Travel

We already have our transportation tickets, but my husband and I will be in Toronto, possibly Montreal for New year eve. We live in the US on the East Coast. I am French and he is from Colorado. It will be his first time in Canada, and I like to surprise him. I just want to do something different . I feel like we can just go to a random club like we would if we stayed in DC. I want it to be a Great memory. So, I am looking for other people who will be in the area at the time, or are from there, have been there at that time and have recommendation. We are both in our late twenties, funloving and we love to try new stuff. Thanks in advance!
