Things to do in Rainy Madrid

If you are like me seeing and hearing the rain against the window makes you want to stay in bed all day.  But of course that is not always possible, especially not when you are on a trip somewhere rain should not keep you from exploring a new place. In case you have book a couple of days in Madrid apartments you don’t want to waste your precious time staying in. Here are a couple of things to do on rainy days:

Visiting the City of Madrid in Spain

Museums

First on the list is definitely visiting a museum or two and the Spanish capital has plenty of great museums to choose from. One of the must-sees is the Prado Museum which is open daily except on Monday. From Tuesday until Saturday you can visit it for free between 6 and 8pm, on Sundays the free period is from 5 until 8pm. As a little tip to have an interactive museum experience visit the Museo Tiflológico, Madrid’s Blind Museum that offers exhibits that allow to touch and feel.

Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

You don’t have to be a football nut to enjoy touring the stadium of one of Spain’s top soccer clubs. Football is a great part of Spanish culture and the pride for the favorite team goes deep. Taking a tour through the stadium you will have a panoramic view over the entire stadium which is hard to get when you are there for a game. You will also be able to see the VIP lounges, dressing rooms, players’ tunnel, trophy room and more of what is going on beyond the mere soccer field.

Madrid Snowzone

You can also skip the rainy fall season completely and go to all-year winter wonderland Madrid Snowzone, the only indoor ski facility in Spain and Europe’s biggest. It is located a couple of minutes outside the city. You can rent all the equipment you need there and take courses.  For more information on how to get there and the rental rates visit their website at http://www.madridsnowzone.com/

If it still rains at the end of the day you will have the comfort of apartments in Madrid where you can cuddle up with a warm beverage just like at home.
