Name Ride across America by Bicycle 2014
About me: OK, so I've done the backpacking thing, group travel thing and have spent some time living in another Country. For my next trip, I want to do something different. Travel at a slower (and hopefully cheaper) pace.
General Info: The TransAmerica Trail - was established for Adventure Cycling's celebration of the U.S. bicentennial in 1976. This is still the greatest and most used route crossing America. This classic ride offers everything you would expect from a transcontinental crossing. You'll encounter all kinds of scenery and terrain, including ocean coastline, lush forests, high desert, mountain passes, snow-capped peaks, sweeping vistas, expansive plains, fertile farmlands, rolling hills, and wide rivers. We'll pass through small, out-of-the-way towns in America that still serve up some of the best home-cooked meals and fresh-baked pies.
How long: I'd like to take this trip at a leisurely pace as I am a beginner. 90 days seems to be the norm for an average Joe (with general fitness)
Cost: Will vary. $15 - $45 a day depending (camping and cooking own dinners) Up to $75 a day for Motels, eating at cafes.
Bike: I'm planning to buy a road bike in the US as they seem to be cheaper over there. If you plan to buy a bike they are between $1000 - $1600 for a good one.

Disclaimer: At the moment I'm just considering taking this trip, so I'm throwing this out to the world to see if there are any other people interested. I'm happy to travel any time in 2014 and am flexible with dates or routes.
