10 weeks of adventure and backpacking in South America. I've always loved Latin American culture (especially with my family being from Guatemala) so this trip really is about cultural immersion, traveling excursions, and soaking up the everything S. America has to offer!

My itinerary includes:
-volunteering (2 - 4 weeks and mostly likely in Ecuador for a health care organization)
-backpacking
-exploring the amazons
-eating well
-drinking plenty
-dancing salsa, tango and samba
-perfecting my spanish

My travel style is 80% spontaneous and 20% planned so I generally like to make my way as I go. Nevertheless I will start in Bogota', Colombia and make way down from Ecuador to Peru, Chile, Argentina, and back up to Brazil and Venezuela. I will either volunteer in the beginning of my trip or the every end. While I'm backpacking I'll definitely couchsurf (couchsurfing.com) and if I can find Wwoof opportunities (wwoof.org) I'll try that too. Otherwise the plan is to stay in hostels and make my way around.

I always have a lot of fun when I'm backpacking and my belief is that it's not about the museums and historical sites (though I will most definitely see all that I can) but about the people and culture - those leaving the lasting impressions.

MirandafromCanada Hey Christine! I have been living in Ecuador for 5 month so if I can help in anyway let me know. I will travelling all of October, starting in Quito making my way around the north and to the jungle. On the 20th of October I go to the Galapagos Islands for a week!
