Trek the rugged Six Foot Track

The Six Foot Track is an iconic 45km trail between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. It's a great 3-day trek that meanders through Australia's stunning Blue Mountains. Since 1984, an annual marathon has also run the entire length of the track. Entrants are given 7 hours to finish the race with the average runner taking 5 hours 30 minutes.

The Track

The route follows the original 1884 horse track that was carved through rock and bush to take tourists from Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves. It was constructed to be at least six feet wide so two wagons could pass each other.

Six Foot Track

There is a wide variety of flora, including eucalyptus, wattles, tree ferns and other vegetation. And spectacular natural features are all around, including caves, sheer sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and incredible panoramas of richly-forested valleys.

The Wildlife

Walkers are also likely to see native mammals such as kangaroos, wallaroos, echidnas, wombats, swamp wallabies, and possums. Lizards and snakes are common, so consider leading the trek; it's supposedly the second or third person who get's bitten.

Blue Mountains Kangaroo

The walk can be done as a do-it-yourself adventure or as a guided trip with one of several tour operators located in Katoomba. Hikers encounter fluctuating altitudes and climates, so it's important to be well prepared.

This is just an idea for a Trip that you can either Create with your own specific dates and requirements, or you can Find a Trip created by another traveller and join them on an adventure.
