Adrian Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia...Travel buddies required Feb-April 2011
Hey all
The first time I visited Asia was through the military a few years ago and I always wanted to come back and do the whole backpacking trip. Now I have the opportunity, I’m looking to hook up with some travel buddies for around Feb-April. I will be going it alone and plan to spend roughly about 3 weeks in each country. As I haven’t worked out an itinerary yet I’m open to suggestions and would greatly appreciate some advice or any recommendations on budget and all that good stuff.
I’m 28, laid back and get on with pretty much anyone I meet; I love music, festivals, partying and culture.
If interested feel free to get back to me on my email address which is britman2k3@yahoo.com or facebook me Adrian Alzate Stewart

magicthomas Hello world! I was wondering if anyone wanted to buddy up for some travelling in Vietnam? I am arriving in Hanoi next Monday - 26th July - if you have heard of geocaching - I am planning to go off and find some treasure using a GPS! If you haven't heard of geocaching - it's a treasure hunt game played with a GPS system where you set out on adventures to find various 'caches' hidden in great locations - this will be a great way to explore a new country and find places you never knew existed :) I am from the UK, 28, male, and have travelled before in India, Nepal, and Malaysia, but this will be my first time in Vietnam! Look forward to hearing from you! Thom

Todd Hey Thom, Vietnam is one of the most popular countries for globetrooper trips. Click here to see the Trips just for Vietnam http://globetrooper.com/search/vietnam?types[0]=trip. I'm planning to stay in Vietnam for a few months in 2011 after the GCIRC (http://globetrooper.com/the-great-circular-indian-railway-challenge-2011#talk). We may work out of there since its relatively cheap with great Internet speeds. Would love to hear how it goes.

Any suggestions of things to do around cambodia?
Yes the ang kor wat, the khmer rouge museum thing but what about things not in lonely planet? things that real people have discovered and done?
Do let me know yeah?
Also is travelling from one part of cambodia to another best by land? Or what other way?
Currency I've hear and read is mostly USD? what about the cambodian riels?
Any information would be helpful!
Hope to hear from you guys soon!!!!

Todd Hi Nomadic, I haven't been unfortunately, but plan to in early 2011. I would think a great way to explore the country would be on a Vespa Scooter. I've seen tours on Vespas in Vietname. Also, I hear that travelfish.com is the best guide for SE Asia. By virtue of it not being Lonely Planet, and less well known, it may have some of those gems you're looking for. Plus also search for "Cambodia" trips on the site. Click here to see the search results: http://globetrooper.com/search/cambodia?types[0]=trip. There are 15 trips in total. All the best and would love to hear how it goes.

Clementine

Clementine Hey everybody,
I am Clementine, I am 28 years old French woman, who spent the last 4 years of her life in Hungary and the last 5 months in India and Nepal.
I am in Vietnam these days, traveling on my own, and my friends from Hanoi keep on telling me that Ha Giang and its area are amazing, but better reached by bike. I don't have much experience with bike and really do not enjoy the idea of being in an apparently remote area just with my bike and my backpack. And I would be happy to hang out with people after a while traveling alone.
I would start from Hanoi and go for a few days, from 5 days to 10 depending on how I feel there/weather...
If someone wants to come along, drop me a line.
I would not know how to describe myself but errr, if you are in couchsurfing.com, you can find me on user name magyarclementine. In short, I'm rather laid-back and trying to be as open-minded as I can, and genuinely interested in people.
Cheers!
Clem

SuzyP Hi Clementine! I am also traveling alone and am currently in Hanoi. Are you still here? If so, would love to meet up with you. I may take a Halong tour starting tomorrow, then I plan on heading down to Hue, but I could be convinced to stay up north a little while longer. Cheers, Suzy

SuzyP Anyone interested in making the bus-boat trip from Hanoi to Cat Ba to visit the national park up there? I want to do a long trek there, and am looking at the information on Slo Pony's website about getting up there and doing a day trip into the park. Maybe before that doing a trip to Halong Bay. Cheers, Suzy
