Name Trekking in Nepal

i actually went ahead and booked on my own due to lack of commitment from the people that contacted me. i am confirmed and fully booked and so far going on my own. it's a trek to the annapurna base camp, sleeping in tea houses and hotels. I can't get the 'highlights' feature on here to work, so don't mind the 'everest base camp' which i can't delete. I have a dedicated guide from a recommended trekking company. anyone who is interested in coming with me, feel free to get in touch. the more people who come the cheaper it will get. right now all on my own it's costing me $1100 for the guide/food/accomodations etc. which would go down in cost per person if we get more people. i secured my flight for about $1700. you should bring most of your gear, but the trekking company also has gear you can borrow at no extra cost if they think you're missing something.

here's the itinerary: I'm flying out feb 17 2012 and leaving to come back from kathmandu on march 6th.

so it’s a completely private tour, just me and a guide named Kamal and the Himalaya. Joining another tour would have cost about the same, but not including any food at all. So I opted to do this since I’ll be able to go at my pace and have my own personal translator and guide. If more people end up coming along with me then the trek cost will be less even, but I’m fine doing it alone so it’s not required.

don’t mind the bad English, this itinerary was written by my guide contact.

16 day: car drop to airport and fly back own destination

I’ll actually have 2-3 extra days at the end that I’ll be spending in Kathmandu chilling out and resting before the trip home and doing some final souvenir shopping and exploring. it also leaves some room in case we’re delayed on the trek by an extra day or two due to bad weather or something. I may also get a tattoo from a shop a friend of mine's heard of over there.

Here’s the pricing details, basically everything but my meals in the 2 major towns is included and of course tip or baksheesh as my Nepali phrase book tells me, which I’ll split between my guide and the agency. All transport, park and trekking passes, entry to temples, etc is all included and will be pre-arranged. We’re also going to go through my gear and he’s going to help me pack and supplement my gear with anything he thinks I’ll need to borrow at no extra cost.

Todd Hi Alice, a few people are talking about doing Aconcagua on this trip page: Aconcagua tends to be the next stop for people after Kili, although it is 1km taller and is substantially more challenging.

Norbu Hi this trip is good scheduled but there are a bit mistake on information. Such as the day 05, the day 06 will be also difficult because you will be assending in the morning from 2700m till 3200m and retuen to lodge then you will be assending again up to 3200m then descending down to 2400m then again assending up to 2500m. Cost seems resonable but there are possiblities to recduce down to $1000 per person. If you are with friends and able to get a porter will be much comfortable for you to viewing around and enjoying the beauties of Himalayas rather then having heavy load in back and puffing on uphill. I am also a trip operator in Nepal and have worked with many people from Calgary and Lethbridge. May be I can help you on it.
If you are interest then let me know.

7 years ago hi Norbu, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. my plans are pretty much set. I don't want to bail on my current guide after all the work he put in for the difference of 200$ also, it's only me right now, I understand that if I can get more people then I could reduce my cost. I'm a really fit and strong guy and plan to carry all my own gear.
