Name Trip to South America?

Very flexible with this trip, very low budget. New at traveling and prefer a somewhat experienced traveler-aware that this trip can pose some difficulties. Im planning to backback up the western coast , using buses and trains for transportation when needed. Really want to experience all that the region has to offer and enjoy my time there. As for shelter, im hoping we can find the finest and safest hostels, campgrounds, and other cheap alternatives.

* As of recently, I acquired a position volunteering in Costa Rica until December '12. I would love to find someone who would like to meet up around that time and continue through Latin America down the coast.

Kaity Hammerstein Which program are you volunteering with in costa rica? I'm really interested in doing something like this too! I'm not too experienced with backpacking - what about you Jackie?

Jackie I wouldn't mind volunteering in Costa Rica. It would just depend on what the work will entail :-)
