I am a mature age(n=62) male Aussi traveller who frequently goes to new places in Asia.
I love grassroots travel where I can meet the locals and get an understanding of the culture.
As I evolve as a traveller and as a person, I see myself changing my emphasis of being merely a consumeristic tourist and beginning to see myself as someone who can make a difference as they travel.
I am hoping on future trips that I will find ways of helping local people in need and become a Travelling Aid Agency with the support of others.

dali Hi! When I get some committed people.Nobody yet. There are no specifics. Raise money at home; go to Burma with it. Distribute it to worthy local people. I like to keep it simple.

dali I want to do Taiwan either late Feb next year or in 2012. I want to stay 2 months and see the Lantern Festival and also the Matsu 8-day pilgramage and really explore all those fabulous natural hot springs they have there. I figure 1x hot spring bath a day would be ideal. I have recently passed my motor cycle pre learner's drivers test and hope to have my "L's" soon. If your trip was a bit later and also longer I would join. Happy Travels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brooks Hi Dali, I'm headed to Thailand in Mid-November to start a rtw. I briefly went to Burma in 2008, and can't wait to go back to travel more extensively. Do you know more specifically where you'd like to go and what your dates will be? Thanks!

dali Hi Brooks! I have sort of put the trip on hold due to lack of interest from fellow travellers and also I have been warned about going when the sham elections are being held soon: and there could be blood shed. I am toying with the idea at the moment of rescheduling the trip for November 2011 with a different focus. Maybe to recruit people who will raise $1000-$3000 over the next 12 months and then tour Myanmar with me looking for worthy receipients.Just a different type of trip where I am less of a observer and consumer and more of a doer and a pro active traveller. So at this stage it seems I will be delaying the trip.
