Lauren Hi Benjico, this trip sounds really cool, exactly what we're looking to do in Vietnam. However we're thinking of staying quite a bit longer and thinking of the advantages of buying scooters (instead of renting them just a week) to explore at our own pace.

Todd Hi elizabeth, I did some research and it seems a bike would be about $1000, depending on condition. But the downside of buying vs taking a tour is that you'll have to handle maintenance, fuel, etc. I'm not sure how long I'm staying yet, but will post here once I have more info.

My flight arrives to Amman on sat 19 at midnigth and I´ve already booked the hostel in Amman for 3 nigths (bdeiwi hostel) to visit Jerash, Madaba and Dead sea, and then.. we can organise together. just let me know about your plan ok. joe_ctl Hi nice to meet you. Of coz we can meet up at Tel Aviv, however, my stop at Tel Aviv is the airport only (i.e. on 31/10 morning) and then I will go to Jerusalem direct. Actually, if you have any good suggestion to visit in Tel Aviv, I can change my plan. Or we can visit Jerusalem together?

Im 59 years old and ive been dreaming of these type of adventures. can you also give me an idea of expenses?

Todd Elizabeth, have you considered Egypt too? Amazing place, lots of adventure, a bit of culture shock, etc. Just an idea. Not instead of the Inca Trail, but just food for thought :)

elizabeth yes. it is in my bucket list. the list is long as it is for im just starting. i cannot wait to begin my adventure. im thinking of flying to egypt and then get the tour there. i just do not know how to begin. any advice or ideas? thanks

Todd There's this trip here http://globetrooper.com/egypt-jordan-oct-nov-2010-2010. The thing that sounds good about this one is that it arrives in time for the Sun festival. Oh, and it includes ballooning over Luxor. See the trip page for our comments about it. Pretty amazing stuff.
