Lauren Hi inguvap, we did a few years ago. As for preparation, it's best to walk for long periods with our trekking boots and with a backpack. It's really not that difficult, but the more prepared, the more you'll enjoy it. People who arrive unprepared may still make it to the top, but it will be much less enjoyable if they're constantly at the back of the group and pushed to their limit.
Your feet are most important, which is why it's especially helpful to wear your hiking boots when you're training at home. Not when you're running, but for any long walks. If you get bad blisters on the trek, it can really make life hard. So by wearing your boots at home, it will get you used to them.
