Ludmila Hi Damo, yep I m still planning it! I was not very active here for a while indeed as I have recently come back from 1 month trip in Africa ( Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya) and been a bit busy with my job. I m currently in Moscow. Do you plan to visit Russia? Let's stay in touch, would be nice if our travel routes cross somewhere. I am still thinking whether to start from Asia or Latin America anyway.

Ludmila Just read about your trip.. Let me know when you plan stans. I was born in Kazakhstan and plan to come see Central Asia - Kyrgyzstan which i love because of the moutains and where i was at the age of 15 and Uzbekistan

Damo Hi Ludmila, I will be starting in Europe but trying to get through quite quickly as I have done a lot of that already. Should be in that area in Sept to Oct ish. Hopefully you will be around there then? It would be good to cross paths especially around this region. After that I will go on to Russia. Also, will you be going to Iran? Hopefully I can get there also. Good to hear your getting away. I would like to see more of Africa after visiting S Africa a couple years ago... but thats something which will have to happen in the future.

Ludmila well, my plan was to start in Aug-Sep and go through central Asia (Kyrgizstan and Uzbekistan) to Iran and then India and easwards. I will keep ypu updated anyway. Do you plan making treks on the way? I do though not very serious ones.

Damo Yea cool, keep me updated with your plans. I have got to start in Europe and want to end up in E Russia, so probably will be moving the other way... but I am game for a trek. I would really like to do something like that in Northern Iran or Kyrgyzstan.

Damian Hi! When are you planning to start? I will start in central and south America moving east then through French Polynesia, and Australia so it be be a little while before I get to SE Asia. I don't have all the details, but I know I want to visit Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. Then move towards China and Japan.

Ludmila Hi, tentatively in August next year. I plan to start from Central Asia (Tadjikistan or Uzbekistan) moving eastwards covering almost every country and fly to South America from Hong Kong or smth. Thailand, Vientnam are on the list as well. I though plan to skip Australia and Polinesia due to visa implications.

Damian What kind of visa implications? Trying to figure out if there's something I should know.

Todd Consider white water rafting in India; especially up around Rishikesh. There's also rafting Thailand, plus it's a great place to hire a motorcycle to tour the country.

Ludmila Hi Mammut, thanks for the info. Seems I will miss the best weather in Dubai as I plan to start in August next year. But let you know if find an opportunity to travel there.

avi Be prepared and learn to rely on self and locals for help. If another breaks down, you're stuck being responsible for them as well. I've ridden many places both with and without partners - I prefer alone and to meet people along the way. Most importantly be prepared.

Ludmila Adventure alone is great if you are cautious and take care and responsibility. You can always find some nice people on the way so believe there will not be much troubles

Ludmila Hi Lauren, thanks for commenting. Indeed EFOH is a truly relevant thing for me now especially if you choose between rat racing and travelling the world. I will actually appreciate if you give me hints on interesting non tourist spots in Asia and Latin America especially on those where I can do some adventurous stuff. Would really love to get to know your travel stories, recommendations on budget hotels and other info that might be useful. I actually enjoy planning, it s almost like travelling:) I would love to stay in touch and meet up somewhere. Have fun travelling, I m really jealous about your 18 months escape

Todd Hi Ludmilla, in Asia, India was my favourite. Such a diverse country (beaches, desert, mountains, etc, plus the culture) and train travel is such a blast. Very cheap of course and so many famous places to explore. Thailand is good if you need a rest. It's relatively developed, has fast internet in the big cities, the people are friendly, and it's very cheap. In South America, we loved Bolivia and Peru. Peru is an easy place with lots of history and nice people, while Bolivia has lots of adventure and our favourite, the San Pedro Prison. Ludmila Hi Todd, thanks for the info. I do plan to stay for a while in India and explore not only tourist spots but also some hidden non tourist places. If u know those that might be of interest and give me the list I ll be very thankful. I do plan to have some rest in Thailand indeed so probably will spend there a month too. I was in Peru 2 years ago and covered pretty much of the country but defo plan Bolivia. Not very aware about the country yet. I actually wanted to write some articles on Russia and also if you need I can correct the info you have in the Region guides - not sure how quick though..P.S. Liked ur profile pic - we have climbed Kilimanjaro this year too and I just loved it so def plan some treks during my trip as well
