PMaz11 Hi Keith, I'm also from the UK and having taken voluntary redundancy from IT, spent some months applying for replacement jobs and trying to set up as self-employed without success, I have decided to take a break, because I can. I can't bring a business model for location-independent self-employment to the mix, but given good internet connections there is a lot of online training I could catch up on. So I am interested to get in touch about possible overlap.

PMaz11 Hi Keith, my plan to do a RTW trip in one large chunk has had to change into several smaller trips, for various reasons. This might not get all the way around the world. I'm currently moving house. After that I'm going to spend time in Canada and the US (North to South). After returning to the UK for a required break I am aiming to head to Thailand and start a gradual southwards-oriented journey towards Australia, hopefully avoiding the worst of the winter in the UK. That part of the trip is not well defined yet.

PMaz11 Hi, I'm coming from the UK to the US at the start of a RTW trip probably in October, but have lots of similar interests in terms of countries I am interested in. (Although time is short my itinerary is definitely not fixed). What is the scope for overlap where our plans overlap?

travelinhappy Not sure where our plans will overlap. I don't know what your plans are. I leave Pennsylvania about the time you hit the states. Do you know where you will be heading first?

PMaz11 Possible overlap in South America? US plans at the moment: NY, CN, MA, VT as route to Canada, but need to investigate OH and IL where have contacts.

PMaz11 I'm interested in this: although I am not consistently vegan I have no problems with vegan food except that I am somewhat gluten-intolerant. My problem may be that I may not arrive in the East US (October '11 or later) until you have gone further west.

PMaz11 I would like to get involved in volunteering but I am finding this takes a lot of planning: have you things in mind? I have some background in ecology (not applied recently). My travelling start date is less flexible (Oct'11 onwards), but maybe we can overlap somewhere on the way (see the trip I have set up).
