she. You are not going to believe this, but I was thinking about Italy earlier yesterday!LOL. I called a real estate company to see if they can assist me in finding an apartment to rent, I talked with a travel agent about London and Amsterdam, I was told if I want to venture to different places and pay a lot of money then go to London, if I want to enjoy the night life go to Amsterdam!LOL. I was in the army and was stationed in Vicenza, Italy for 1.5 years, I was young and all I wanted to to was party! I went to a lot of incredible cities too...Venenzia, Bolognia, Florence, Milano and Rome. I told myself one day I'll go back and do it right the next time. Your plans sound a hell of a lot appealing than mine...actually quite appealing even down to the rental car! Do you enjoy the night life at all? If we should decide to travel together, if you don't do the night life thing, it's cool, I'm sure I can find my way around....I do road trips in the U.S. alone all of the time. I guess it's time if we decide to go on a trip together, we get to know one another more.LOL. I can remember if there is anything personal about me on this site. Anything you'd like to know feel free to ask me..it's obvious I talk a lot!LOL. This may very well be a doable trip for me!

Lauren Hi guys, just wanted to mention that instead of booking accommodation before you get there, I think it's better to book the first couple of nights in a hostel/hotel, then decide. I've found it's great to research where you think you might want to stay, then when you get there, take a walk, and see how accessible it really is to supermarkets, city centre, transport etc. I think it also makes for better negotiating. Plus you will probably find a few more places that are not listed on the net that could be gems.

she. Hi Lauren. Thanks for the great idea about accommodations. I have been having a lot of trouble deciding as to where to stay because of not knowing if it will be as it is displayed on line as far as renting an apartment from a private owner. Your suggestion will truly make it easier and make me feel better about that aspect of any trip I take.

Lauren No problem. We're currently in Montreal - we booked 6 nights accomm in hostels before we got here but only needed 3 before we scored an apartment for 3 months. So it is doable.

she. Hola! Not a problem with your timing. I have been almost going loca trying to find a cruise to go on in May 2011 to go to Europe that leaves from New York. I figured if I couldn't find anyone to travel with, I would go on a cruise and be with people. I had no idea how many ships leave from other places than the U.S.! Anyway, I have still been thinking about Italy, as a matter of fact one of the cruises I was interested in going on was going to Roma and Florence....I just didn't know if I was going to hear from you again, so I was keeping my options open. I have a cousin who lives in Italy, I wanted to visit him a while back and he mentioned he has friends he stays with in the country in Florence which I take is Tuscany? He tried to dissuade me from visiting him by immediately telling me he couldn't put me up(which I never asked nor expected him to) and then telling me he wouldn't have too much time to show me around because he spends his weekends with his friends in the country....I guess he's the last to know I know he's gay, too bad he's trying to hide it or is ashamed of it. Anyway I told him intruding on him was the last thing I wanted to do, I value my privacy too. So if I go and I just run into him, I'll speak but I won't be looking him up, since he made it clear he doesn't want to be bothered. Ah it's a small world! I've just rambled on and on and have yet to address what you wrote. Wow a 4 bedroom apartment with one bath? Quanta costa of this apartment? How did you find it? Lauren had a good idea to check into a hotel for a night, if you're not sure about rental accommodations. I was advised to go through a real estate agent, which I called one and he never called me back, I know it may cost more because of their commission, but going through a well know company like century 21 would be good. I would be willing to pay the difference of getting an apartment with the extra bathroom. I have driven in Italy not that much, but basically where I was going, I wanted to rent a car, of course since this is something I was going to do anyway, I wouldn't expect anyone to share that expense, just pitch in for gas. Scooter's are cool, I used to ride motorcycle's, something has changed about me since I've gotten older, I know how to ride, but am scared to be on anything with 2 wheels and a motor and have to share roads with auto drivers...It makes me nervous now. Don't let my feelings deter you from riding a scooter....give me some open land where cars can't go and I'm all over riding a motorcycle! Is this what you want to do for sure? I have so many things going on, but I can adjust my schedule, some of the things I've got coming up are business related, and I just want to get them done and out of the way and then have fun!

Let me know your thoughts. Whatever they are will be fine with me. I just know I need to go on a fantastic vacation, well vacations...I truly deserve them!

rubyxxcube LOL that was really a long reply but good to hear back from you nonetheless. I found the accommodation from this website - http://www.tuscanyaccommodation.com/view/1/1/305/ - and it directs you to the individual websites. I might give them a ring/email to authenticate the location and prices etc of cos! I just thought it was a great deal and has lotsa activities and things to do within the area. 2 I don't mind sharing a bathroom cos I'm a very neat person, but if u prefer seperate bathrooms, will need to look up other options. I suppose going via a property agent could work too but I think they will deal msotly with city centre type properties and ideally I'd like to steer away from that. The one I was looking at is about 40mins away from Florence I think, and close to a train stn (if we're not renting cars). I would be most happy to share costs on a car, so that's not a problem. And yes, Florence is in Tuscany too and will be one of the cities I'd like to visit whilst I'm there. Yea, I've done cruises but wasn't really my thing unfortunately. It usually becomes too much with the partying, booze, eating and gambling. Not exactly what I call relaxing. I'm looking forward to some quiet afternoons to relax by a pool, or picnic and read. And of cos, lotsa sightseeing, eating, drinking and partying. Hopefully, a balance of both! So I suppose if we'd like to discuss more, please email me : rubyxcube@gmail.com

she. Hi Kirsten. I'm sorry it took me so long to answer you back. I read about the bike tour.....I'm looking for night clubbing/dancing adventures and being just a typical mild tourist the rest of the time. Outdoor activities to the extreme are not for me. Thanks for sharing your links with me...if you ever take a mild vacation let me know!
