Jebbert Everest would be awesome to do. I could definitely be ready in 3 years it is just money that is a problem. I intended on doing it without Sherpa support because it would be cheaper and feel more like a personal goal. I also want to do it without oxygen. I would definitely be up for it in a few years. I also heard about Island Peak from a climbing friend. If your looking for anyone on that one I will be interested as well. Here is my email, send me any more info you may have on the Everest trip and more exact prices.

Todd Jebbert, I'd certainly be interested in Island Peak or one of the other trekking peaks in the Himalaya later next year. I have a bit too much on my plate in the interim. I'd also like to do a TMC course beforehand. Have you thought about Aconcagua as preparation? It would be a great introduction to almost 7000m, and it's relatively cheap compared to the higher and less accessible peaks.

Sunny Hi Todd, great to see so many active people discussing the trip and other climbing goals here :) Out of curiosity for your Aconcagua climb, how much do you expect to spend on that trip? My own climbing career is on full throttle and plan is to rehearse basics this year, climb Mt Blanc next summer and then head towards higher peaks, either Aconcagua or Denali :)

Todd Hi Sunny, looks like $3000-$4000 for a guided group, depending on provider and route. Gear is another story.

Sunny Hi Ulrike! I'm planning to climb Mt Blanc next summer, most likely sometime between July-September. I don't have much mountaineering experience yet, but there are several businesses that will guide you up there and you'll learn the skills as you climb, so I'm taking the whole challenge as a learning opportunity. Let me know if you're still up to this and maybe we could team up!

Sunny Mountain climbing on or ice climbing no, so far I've just been hiking. I'm doing rope climbing indoors, so I know a bit about ropes and stuff but in mountaineering I'm a novice.

Sunny Hi Todd, your plan sounds impressive. I'm personally fascinated by the thought of doing the same one day, but not sure if I'm able join yet in 2013. So far I've been just hiking in the Alps, but would like to move on to some more challenging routes in the future. Anyhow, I'm going to take a course on ice climbing / winter mountaineering next winter and will keep on training mountaineering skills next summer too. I'm based in northern Europe so keep me informed when your Mt Blanc trip starts to take shape, I'd be glad to join!

Sunny Hi there, I checked out the AMS website and the course and it sounds good, but Alaska is a bit far away to me :) I've got two alternatives both located in Scandinavia, will propably choose either one of those. The link posted by Vagabond regarding the Mt Blanc trip seems promising!
