Todd We used to do this when we lived in Australia. We'd hire a bus and head to Thredbo in a big group at least once every winter. We'd usually go in a gour of 12 or 14; someone of the best times we had in oz :)

Lauren Hi Sophia, I climbed Kilimanjaro a few years ago and I think it's a great starting point if you want to eventually head for Everest. I love big dreams! And I'd love to organise a trek with you on a different mountain. Denali has always called my name :) and anything in the French Alps would be really great too - and closer for you.

Todd Hey Sophia, consider teamkilimanjaro.com when you eventually go to Kili. We climbed with them a couple of years ago and they were very good. Kili really is an enjoyable climb; highly recommended.

sofia Lauren: Awesome! I think as well that Kili is a great starting point. I would love to climb in the French Alps. I would like to climb Denali as well and of course Mt. Blanc, so maybe we could organize a trek one day, I would like that :) Todd: Thank you for your advice!

Sophia I would love to climb Mt Everest. But I haven't climb any other mountain that is similar to this one, so I will definitely no be ready in 2013. Great idea though! Please check my group "Lets climb Kilimanjaro" I think that would be a great mountain to start climbing for me!

tachyon Things are good. Off to Bali next weekend for a week of diving and surfing. Thailand is awesome! I'll make it to India eventually. I have this plan in my head to do Nepal-Bhutan-India at some point. It'll probably be a few years off though. The Gobi is insane. I remember when I was working up there. Hope she doesn't run into any chaotic dust storms!

Todd Sounds like an interesting trip. The Globetrooper Team recently spent 3 months in South America, much of it exploring the backcountry. Most memorable parts were 1) a trek into the Peruvian jungle looking for lost civilizations (http://globetrooper.com/notes/adventure-turns-to-expedition-peru), and 2) the visit of the San Pedro prison (http://globetrooper.com/notes/how-to-get-into-san-pedro-prison-bolivia).

Todd Yeah, what a great idea. I'm also from AU, but I have plenty of time, just not the budget for Europe. Great inspiration for something similar in Asia maybe. I've also thought about visiting the places with the most extreme weather in the world. The desserts of the middle east (or Ethiopia) for the heat, remote villages in Siberia for the cold, etc. Just a thought.

Betsabe I'm plannig a 15 days tour over Peru, Im gonna know 6 cities and one of them is Pisco... I really want to be in Puno, Cusco and see the Nazca Lines, it's not too expensive... let's do it!!!
