Trey Taking a RTW trip has always been a dream of mine, so I’m seriously thinking about taking such an adventure while I’m still healthy enough to do so. But I don’t see how it would be possible to spend a year traveling for only $8000. Is this really possible? Last year I had to undergo treatment because a patch of melanoma had penetrated my skin, but thankfully there are no signs it spread. Would you be willing to tell us what type of cancer you had?

Todd Hi Trey, not sure if you've seen our recent blog post about cost of living around the world (http://globetrooper.com/notes/cost-of-living-thailand), but $8k is possible if you stay in the right places. However, flights can quickly eat into that. I doubt you could travel though Western Europe and Australia on only $8k for the year though. In Asia and South America you can spend $300/month or less on accommodation. So that would be less than $4k for the full year. So although $8k is possible, I think it would be tough.

travelinhappy Trey I am glad to hear that you are fine. My issues were with my cervix. You can learn more about what I am doing by visiting my website www.unlimited-smileage.com I will be doing a lot of camping and those types of things so yes I believe this can be done relatively inexpensively. I agree with Todd the biggest expense will be airfare and I am also considering other ways to cross the ocean.
