Jaian How long are you planning to tour Bali for? To be honest I'll probably make the trip near the end of this year if I can find an earlier group, but otherwise I'll keep this trip in mind!

Jaian I'm planning my first trip to Bali specifically to learn to surf. There's places in Australia (eg. Sydney/Brisbane etc) where I could learn as well, but not only is Bali closer, but much cheaper. I can only go for a week if I go though, maybe 10 days at most. I'd like to hear more details about your planned trip, I might end up going...Bali is only a few hours flight from where I live.

Walls Hi Jaian! The fact is that I do not have specific plans yet. Only my trip dates. I will arrive on December 1 and will leave around mids january...

I have been looking for some info about Bali:
- Accomodation is cheap: Between 10-20 $/night (it is also possible get lower prices). Meals are also cheap.
- Depending on where you stay and where you wanna surf, it is recommendable to rent a motorbike (or a car for 3-4 people)
- Kuta is crowded and good for party but not for relax.
- You have to consider where you are going to surf (Kuta, Sanur, for begginers to intermediates) in order to choose accomodation and/or transport.

What I will do as soon as I get there is to visit a surfshop (I have a couple of contacts there) and ask for some advice about where to surf (and, therefore, sleep), where to get a motorbike (or other transport, if necessary), how to contact a cheap local surf instructor, etc.

Just let me know when you plan to go there. If we arrive on the same dates, we can share some surf lessons (and then go surf together and take a look at each other)

Jaian Hey Walls, I got a great discount on airfare to Bali ($137 return) but for March, so unfortunately can't make it on your trip. I'd like to hear how you go with your surfing expedition though, please do share your experiences next month! Regards, Jaian

Walls Hey, this trip sounds great!!! I am leaving on November 8, going from London to Bangkok. I also plan to visit Brazil around April-May. Maybe we can meet anywhere in SOuth America... Have fun in your trip and keep in touch!!!

Walls Well, I have started to design the itinerary. It would be something similar to this: -Bangkok -Chiang Mai (North)Maybe do a trekking there -Ayutthaya -Kanchanaburi [Going South] -Koh Samui /Koh Phangan -Koh Phi Phi (and surrounding islands) -Tarutao National Park (and surrounding islands)(close to the Malaysian frontier) [Train to Malaysia] -Kuala Lumpur and Malacca [Train to Singapore and end of the trip] Depending on the Planning and the interests of the troopers, we can skip/add destinations.

Walls Hey! I am going from Thailand to Singapore between November 9 and November 30... My idea is to explore Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi and some silands in the south - Koh Samui / Koh Phi Phi / Tarutao National Park) and then cross Malaysia by train (visiting Kuala Lumpur / Malacca) Maybe we can meet there and do some things together.
