Ok so how's this sound...
Planning a somewhat impromptu road trip across the USA. Starting in LA and finishing in New York (I guess...). Here's a call out for anybody else who may be on my very rough route. LA drive to Chicago on Route 66 with most likely very out of the way detours to see stuff. I'm there for all of September and some of October (or until I run out of cash). Have no idea how many stops and where they will be made so can't say how long it will take. Finishing with a flight from Chicago to NY (or that's the current plan anyway). Would like to make Canada but will probably run out of time. I'll get to Niagara Falls though. First week (early September) or so includes hanging out with 2 friends from New Zealand between LA, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Mexican border. You're most welcome to join in on that part also. May try and squeeze in San Fransisco also. Then the main drive to Chicago. I'm not really a planner other than that. Looking to meet some new people. Other travellers that can give me new ideas on what I should be seeing, locals that can give me new ideas on what I should be seeing and doing, etc. All welcome. Or maybe just somebody who needs a free ride east at some point along Route 66 or near-abouts! Far stretching out of the way turnoffs are likely. Somebody to remind me to drive on the right side (which in this case is also the right side) of the road is always good too! I'll pretty much go along with any ideas that you may have. I'm just happy to see stuff and learn something along the way for the most part. Camping, hostelling, hotelling, whatever's convenient at the time, place and mood. For those that aren't on my travel route, send me a message anyway, i'm happy to meet up in towns or while crossing paths.
I'll probably be doing some odd things while on the trip though. I'd like to document new people that I meet along the way with a video camera (for those that don't mind), hopefully some interesting stories/events come through that can wind up in a film when I get back. Or i'll probably get lazy and scratch that anyway. Ummmmm what else... playing impromptu music with people, I can probably only fit a guitar in my luggage (maybe I'll try and squeeze in a glockenspiel or some toys that make noise). I'd like to see some great gigs and bands I wouldn't get a chance to hear in Australia. I want to see the beautiful things and I want to see the ugly and weird things. National parks to quirky America and everything in between suits me. I also know I could never see everything even if I stayed there forever and can accept that. Just happy with what turns up on the way. I wanto to see small towns, I want to see big towns! At points of the trip I'm sure it will be a case of the more people the merrier. Perhaps not at other points but I have no idea. Which is fun I think. I have not even really looked at a detailed map. I'll figure out most of it while there. I like when plans go wrong sometimes, creates a nice story to tell when back home or gives me something to laugh about later in the day.
Correspondance still welcome while I'm on already on road, join at any point, whatever, i'm hoping I have internet access most times while on the move. But who knows. Wow, isn't the internet great! I'm sure there's somebody saying "how'd we get along on our solo trips before the internet came along".
Anyhoo, if you happen to be in the USA in September/October or even if you have some good ideas, contact me at email@example.com
My interests are things that are of interest.
