Volunteering House Build in Phnom Penh - Group Travel

I am running a house build with Habitat for Humanity and Global Village in Aug 2012 and am looking for people interested in doing some volunteering and having a great (be it short) get away. I have spots for about 4 to 6 people and it is ideal for singles or couples wanting to do something different, but not having a lot of time to spare.

It is for an Australian based chapter of the world wide charity and as such funds raised are to be in AUD but it is not limited to Aussies as I have interest from friends in Peru and the US. You fundraise for Habitat Australia then only need to meet myself and the rest of the team in Phnom Penh.

The idea is to raise funds for the build costs (approx $900AUD per person) and then make your own way to Phnom Penh. The build lasts for only 5 days, from Monday 27th of August to Friday 31st of August, and then it is up to you whether you follow on my itinerary or make you own plans. Everyone needs to be in Phnom Penh by Sunday 26th for a team meeting, but if you want to come earlier there will be some time to visit the sights of this great capital.

After the build I am heading to Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat, the floating village and spend some time in orphanages and with other NGO’s to learn more about this beautiful country. Then I am heading to Laos for some fun in Vang Vieng and Vientiane.

All the trip costs are to be covered by the volunteers (in country accommodation is normally under $500 for the week of the build including some meals) but as any traveller in this region will know, living costs are low in these countries.
