I'm hoping to embark on a USA road trip fall of 2011. The purpose is to find and eat at as many vegan restaurants in the USA as possible. I'm going to be chronically this trip through a daily blog but I'll also be working - online - throughout the trip as well. So it's going to be a relatively slow journey - staying for several days or weeks in one State/City. I'm hoping to do some couch surfing, volunteering, and will need to always have Internet access so that I can keep working and blogging. I'm open to have different travel partners along the way so if you can only join for one State or a few months, that's cool.

I'm currently working on the details of the trip including transportation (I have a car but may trade it in for a mini camper/van). I'm open to ideas and suggestions and look forward to hearing from anyone who might be interested. :)

Oh and yes, obviously I'm vegan and the trip is essentially planned around finding the vegan restaurants across the country. You do not have to be veg to travel with me but please be open to eating mostly vegan or at least being flexible about meals.

Also, I'm looking for someone who won't mind doing some of the driving and helping to map out where we'll go within each State.

emilytravels Hey, this trip sounds amazing! Although it's a shame you're not doing it a year later, otherwise I would have loved to join you! I am now following your blog so I will be keen to know how you get on, good luck and hope you have loads of fun eating amazing vegan food!!

PMaz11 I'm interested in this: although I am not consistently vegan I have no problems with vegan food except that I am somewhat gluten-intolerant. My problem may be that I may not arrive in the East US (October '11 or later) until you have gone further west.

ellie I am in Scotland at the moment- usually plan trips to US to see family in Sept but was hoping to get across earlier this year. Looking into logistics of timing and whether I can reshuffle things. RV sounds good- I don't drive so don't know much about that! Always pictured a 70's style VW minivan ;) Have you read Quarrygirl's blog? Amazing resource for vegan restaurant reviews- mainly on west coast but was what planted idea in my head a couple of years ago about a mainly vegetarian trip. Worth a look for ideas/inspiration/exciement inducement!

wtfveganfood Hi Ellie - sounds great. I'm just now digging in to the details of the trip. Looks like I'll be heading out at the end of August and possibly starting in Florida, and then working my way up the East Coast. Let me know if you'd like to join for maybe the month of September or so? :)

ellie As much as I would LOVE to join you for all of the trip, I'm really not sure at this point how much time I'll have or the logistics of travelling. However tentative my plans are right now, the east coast in September is where I will be so worst case scenario, would love to join for a 3-4 days, if that works? I'll be based in NY and right now, looks like my entire trip will be max 2 weeks. If not, would be great to catch you in NYC or nearby for dinner or day trip so definitely keep me in the loop. I'm sorry I can't be more specific with my schedule right now!

HungryVeganTraveler I'm living in southwest Florida currently and can certainly give you pointers on what's good in the area. I'd be happy to join you throughout Florida and into the south. In August, though, I'll be in Portland for about a week, so that will be the determining factor. Check out my blog for some of my Florida eats. My goal is to scour the entire state for delicious vegan fare, so I hope we can meet up and join forces!

DanBJJ I'm leaving on trip in early August that will be centered around training with several of the world's best in Brazilian Jiu Jistu. I also happen to be vegan, so your trip looks like a lot of fun to me. I wish you the best of experiences and maybe we could give each other tips/pointers as we figure things out on the road.

wtfveganfood Hi Everyone - thanks to all of you who are following my trip and to those of you interested in joining it with me! :) I just wanted to share an update. I'm now moving into the stages of starting up the trip blog (will share the url once I get some content on it), purchasing an old van/rv/camper of some sort, and planning a route. I'm thinking of starting in FL and working my way up the coast, then move inward and continue down, then back up, and so on. But I'd love your opinions. I live in Boston right now so it might also make sense to just start in New England. Anywho, if anyone is still interested in joining, please get in touch and let's start to work out the details of you joining my journey! :)

wtfveganfood Hi Lauren! I'm currently living in Boston so I'll likely start with New England States but then hoping to hit the country top to bottom once the full trip gets going. I plan to sit down in February to map out a more serious route and financial plan. :)
