Favorite Culinary Destinations in Barcelona, Spain
By Lloyd C | Updated September 23rd, 2011
I’m definitely more of a city dweller and what I find most appealing in big cities is the diversity of people, places, food, and activities.
After living in Barcelona for 2 years I still know that I haven’t seen everything yet, but I have found some favorite corners.
I dedicate this post to some of my favorite local eateries trying to also add some variety.
As I intend to stay in Barcelona for at least a little while longer there is still plenty of room to add to my list of favorite culinary destinations in Barcelona.
Vegetalia
(C/ Escudellers, 54)
Currently, my favorite lunch place is Vegetalia.
This vegan restaurant serves all organic foods.
They have an original menu and the food never disappoints.
The lunch menu always varies and for 10€ you will get first and second course, a dessert, water or wine and bread.
My personal dessert recommendations are the banana and the carrot cake. Divine!
Juicy Jones
(C/ Hospital, 74)
Another vegan option that has some of the best fruit smoothies and freshly made juices in the city!
What you can always find on the menu is the Thali, a selection of Indian-seasoned vegetables and rice that is served on a big tray that has little separate compartments.
What I also love about Juicy Jones is the colorful decoration.
The whole restaurant is covered in bright colored wall paintings.
Nice Spice
(C/ Pujades 207 bis)
Located in a less commercial area of Barcelona, this Indian/Pakistani restaurant serves what some call the best Indian food in town.
My personal little vice is the cheese naan from this restaurant. It is delicious!!
One of my favorite main courses is the chicken with spinach in coconut milk.
La Paradeta
(C/ Comercial, 7)
Of course, a seafood restaurant can’t be missing on my list.
Generally, there are many great places to eat fish and seafood in this city.
La Paradeta is a special seafood restaurant, as you come in you order the fresh fish like at a market and the cooks prepare your order to your liking.
Paella is known as a traditional favorite to the city and especially this restaurant.
Kibuka
(C/ Goya, 9)
This Japanese restaurant/sushi bar doesn’t serve authentic Japanese food, but much more a sushi fusion with the local influence which makes it so popular among the guests.
If you don’t reserve a table you will mostly have to wait for a table, but you won’t regret it.
It is a rather small restaurant with simple decor what I like very much about this place.
