Does the idea of spending your holidays lolling around on the beach; reading, sunbathing and maybe venturing for the occasional dip in the sea bore you to tears? Who says that’s how a holiday is supposed to be? Why not try an adventure holiday? The world is a big place, full of possibilities. Make the most of your holiday and have an experience you’ll never forget. From scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef to trekking across the Great Wall of China, the options for your adventure holiday are endless. So, make sure the five places to visit are on your bucket list.
Here are five places you should consider visiting before they disappear from the Earth. These places will change the way you look at them and the world. How knows, you even come back and work towards preserving their existence for the next five generations to come.
Five Places To Visit Before They Disappear
One of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, and the only living structure visible from space, the Great Barrier Reef is an awe-inspiring coral reef located off the coast of Queensland, in Australia. You can find some great holiday deals for this area, with a wide range of hotels in the nearby cities of Cairns and Mackay, or the luxurious resorts of the Whitsunday islands. Spend your holiday snorkeling or scuba diving amongst the beautiful coral reefs, along with tropical fish and sea turtles. Or take a helicopter ride over the area, and experience aerial views of the reef and rainforest and look out for dolphins!
If the sea is not your thing, why not try a desert adventure holiday? You can’t get much farther from the water than that! Marrakech, in beautiful Morocco, is an excellent base for desert activity holidays. There is a wide range of stunning hotels in the city, with some unbelievably cheap rates. After a day or two in this fascinating city, take to the desert on a camel trek. Follow a desert caravan through local villages and stop to dine in the desert. Sleep in style in traditional Bedouin tents and wake to the sunrise over the dunes – a truly unique experience.
Sweating at the thought of all that sand? What about a holiday deal in Antarctica? Take your place on a ship bound for the glaciers and travel through some of the most remote landscape in the world. Pass within easy reach of seals and penguins, like cormorants and albatross wheel overhead, or try some whale-spotting amid the icebergs. Or aim to be there during the Aurora Australis (the Southern lights) and see the sky on fire from the coldest place on Earth.
Another adventurous option is a journey to China, to trek along the Great Wall, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Hike along the Yanshan mountains, through some of the most stunning landscapes you are ever likely to see and climb “Heaven’s ladder” to the wild areas of the wall. End your trek in Beijing, a fascinating city and cultural hub of China.
5. New Zealand
Or for those of you who fancy an adrenaline rush, try one of the many activity holidays on offer in New Zealand, the unofficial extreme sports capital of the world. New Zealand offers every extreme sport you could imagine (and some you wouldn’t even think were possible)! Try your hand at paragliding, sky surfing or wingsuit flying or, for those of you who aren’t too keen on falling through the sky, there’s snowboarding, river surfing or white water rafting, to name but a few.
These are just a handful of potential adventure holidays to consider. There are plenty more out there just waiting to be discovered!
Is there something you have always dreamed of doing? Somewhere you have always dreamed of seeing? Life is short! Do it now! Book the holiday of a lifetime!
