The Minnetrista Cultural Center, located at 1200 North Minnetrista Parkway Muncie, IN 47303 is a museum that features displays on local history and art. The museum holds a permanent collection of fine art, including pieces by famed Midwestern painter T.C. Steele as well as rotating exhibits curated by faculty from Ball State University’s renowned Herron School of Art and Design.
The museum also offers educational programs for kids, families, and adults; most feature art history themes such as impressionism or postmodernism. In addition to exhibitions and classes, Minnetrista hosts live performances by world-class musicians during its popular Summer Concert Series. Enjoy
Minnetrista’s forty-acre campus covers beautiful gardens and natural areas, a number of sculptures, and a portion of the White River Greenway. Great for outdoor relaxation.

The Cardinal Greenway is a 10.5-mile paved rail-trail that connects Ball State University to downtown Muncie and other northern suburbs. The Cardinal Greenway’s roots trace back to 1891 when passenger service began on an electric railway that ran between downtown Muncie and Anderson. There are many cool things to do along these 10.5 miles, so explore! You can even bring your bike or take your dog for a walk with you.
Muncie Children’s Museum
The Muncie Children’s Museum is a great place to take children under 10 years old. The museum focuses on educating children about different topics from physics to art history. It features many interactive exhibits as well as hands-on programs and workshops for kids of all ages.
A favorite is their live Ant Wall, Pretending to be in a colony and learning about the different ant jobs. There are several gallery exhibitions throughout the year, so it’s worth calling ahead for schedule changes and program availability.
National Model Aviation Museum
The National Model Aviation Museum, located at 5151 East Memorial Drive, Muncie, Indiana 47302 is home to more than 100 vintage aircraft and holds a staggering 12,000 model airplane kits. David Owsley Museum of Art
The David Owsley Museum of Art is widely considered one of America’s most valuable art collections. The museum’s collection features thousands of pieces by American masters like Thomas Eakins and Andy Warhol. Located on Ball State University’s campus, it’s well worth a visit for any art lover. Muncie Civic Theatre
If you’re looking for a way to see great live theater at a reasonable price, take in one of Muncie Civic Theatre’s performances. The company was founded over 50 years ago and performs shows all year long. Prairie Creek Reservoir and Campground
Take a swim or rent a canoe at Prairie Creek Reservoir and Campground. This is one of Muncie’s most popular parks with many beautiful trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and cross country skiers. If you like camping you can pitch your tent or rent an RV site. It’s one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon. You will love it!
